GARDEN CLUB Instructor: Ms. Carly (UTK, Kinder) – The Garden Club is a fun opportunity for students to gain more hands-on experience planting and tending to our campus garden. Each week, we work on activities that allow the students to engage with their environment in a new way. Your students will come home with plenty of plants, veggies, herbs, and garden-related crafts to share with their families!
ROBOTICS Instructors: Ms. O’Dell and Mr. A (3rd and 4th grades) – This intro to robotics building and coding class will immerse students into the world of robotics. The course will be co-taught with students spending 4 weeks on building and 4 weeks on coding. **Classes will be 1.5 hours long, ending at 4:30pm**
3D MASKS Instructor: Ms. Rosario (1st, 2nd, and 3rd grades) – Students will create 3D mask works of art as they combine art mediums, build their creativity and utilize fine motor skills.
COMPUTER MOUSE Instructor: Mr. A (UTK/K) – Join us for an after-school club where our youngest students practice their skills with the computer mouse. Students will have fun playing games while strengthening their muscle memory and comprehension of clicking and moving the mouse in time with following the computer screen.
KINDER CLAY Instructor: Ms. Rosario (UTK & Kinder) – Students will create a wide range of clay creations from animal sculptures to fine clay trinkets, while developing their fine motor and critical thinking skills! Students will learn how to pinch, roll, cut and build up layers of clay to form shapes of all kinds. As they learn how to manipulate the clay, they will discover that their hands can be powerful tools.
DANCE & STAGE PERFORMANCE Instructor: Mr. Mario (1st-5th grades) – Join Mr. Mario for an exciting course where students explore dance and learn about stage presence and performance. At the end of the session there will be a performance for the parents to celebrate what their children have learned.
SCRATCH GAME CREATION Instructor: Mr. A (3rd-5th grades) – The program Scratch is now universally considered every young coder’s first step to learning actual coding languages. Developed by MIT, this software uses graphical coding blocks to piece together commands while students make their own video game. Students will leave this course having developed video games playable through the Scratch software (Mac and PC compatible).
MAKER SPACE JR Instructor: Ms. Carly (UTK, Kinder) – Maker Space Jr. is a fun DIY space for exploration and creativity. In this session, our youngest students will be encouraged to design, experiment, invent, and build with legos, clay, building blocks, and all kinds of fun and reusable materials. They will have room to explore their interests in a very hands-on, project based program.
CROSS STITCH Instructor: Ms. Rosario (2nd-5th grades) – In this new course, students will learn the fun, calm, creative art of cross stitch. They will use their creativity, fine motor skills, and imagination as they design patterns and make boxes, wallets, and more using cross stitch materials.
BLOXELS Instructor: Mr. A (1st- 5th grades) – In this course, students will use Bloxels Builder software and a huge amount of creativity to create characters, art, and stories that will be featured in their very own arcade games.
MAKER SPACE JR/STEAM SOLAR FARM Instructor: Ms. Carly (UTK, K, and 1st grades) – In this STEAM based class students will build a 3D solar farm. They will be using their creativity as they design and customize their farm while utilizing their fine motor skills. During the second half of the session, students will enjoy Maker Space Jr. where they are encouraged to design, experiment, invent, and build with legos, clay, building blocks, and all kinds of fun and reusable materials.
NEWSPAPER Instructor: Mr. A (2nd-5th grades) – In this exciting course, students will get to run their very own Roscomare school Newspaper. They will dive into the world of journalism through conducting interviews, researching and covering the upcoming events like the Spring musical, our school Robotics team, sports and more. Mr. A will introduce the students to a digital flip book software for formatting their articles which will be shared with the rest of our school community. This will spread school spirit and give students an opportunity to write to their peers about their passions.
